About Inuvika OVD Enterprise 3.4
Inuvika OVD Enterprise 3.4 is a major product release adding many new features and functions to OVD.
What's new in 3.4.0
This release includes a variety of enhancements and features that make our software more scalable, easier to deploy and manage.
Provisioning
We have added the ability to integrate your OVD Session Manager directly with your choice of virtualization platform. This can be on-premises, cloud-based or hybrid utilizing both simple hypervisors, such as Proxmox, Nutanix AHV, VMware vSphere, and Microsoft Hyper-V through to cloud providers such as Zadara, Openstack, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Amazon AWS.
This new functionality allows you to deploy both shared and dedicated OVD Application Server instances that run either Windows 10/11, Windows Server, or a Linux Server based operating system (Ubuntu 22.04/RHEL8) from a gold master template, or multiple templates curated for different use cases. You can spin up and spin down on demand and also have the ability to set a working hours schedule where required.
The underlying technology used is Terraform. So, as long as the platform you wish to integrate has a Terraform Provider (see https://registry.terraform.io/browse/providers to search for yours), it can be added.
Monitoring
A new monitoring feature has been added allowing you to connect the OVD Administration Console directly to a monitoring platform supporting InfluxDB, such as Grafana, or logging to a file stored on the OVD Session Manager that allows you to use a log collector from your chosen monitoring platform to collect and ingest.
Service Notices Changes
If your Session Manager is in Maintenance Mode, users will now receive a Maintenance Mode message automatically via the Service Notices function. This is displayed in addition to any Service Notice that is already configured and in use.
Refresh Button for Applications and Logs
We have added a refresh button that allows you to query your OVD Application Servers on-demand for available applications. The same button is also present inside the Server information and Logs page, allowing you to also refresh these on-demand.
Enhancements to the OVD Administration Console
There are a number of changes in the Administration Console for both cosmetics and functionality.
Dark Mode is now supported via a new theme switcher. It will follow your system preferences or can be manually flipped to Light Mode or Dark Mode.
We have made a wide number of terminology changes in the Administration Console and improved the descriptions of various settings throughout. There is also a description to explain what the settings on each page perform to further help administrators navigate.
Multitenant Changes
Global view has been removed in this release. It is replaced by new drop downs for multi-tenant or global administrators on various pages to allow them to filter information displayed by tenant.
Software License Enforcement
Changes have been made to the Software Licensing functionality in OVD that now allows you to enforce a license limit for applications delivered via OVD. This allows you to stay in compliance with licensing policies where no user limits are defined and licensing is done on a trust basis. This also applies to MSP/CSP partners that want to ensure that license limits are not breached for applications delivered via their DaaS platforms.
Authentication Throttling Improvements
This feature is now enabled by default, providing immediate protection against brute force login attacks on your OVD environment.
End of support
This version does not support Ubuntu 18.04, CentOS 7.x, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 7. These platforms have either already reached or are imminently approaching their respective End of Life dates.
We recommend transitioning to Ubuntu 22.04 LTS (Jammy Jellyfish) or Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 8 as soon as possible to benefit from future OVD versions.
