OVD Messaging
2.8.0 includes the ability to send actionable alerts to users from the central Admin console.
Administrators can notify users of important events like planned system downtime, updates to terms of service, or any other issues that users need to know. OVD Messaging can also be used to survey users for feedback by including multiple response options in the alerts.
Administrators create notices in an intuitive message editor, with the option of adding HTML formatting and customizable responses to prompt action by the recipient. Alert notices are presented to users during an active session, or the next time a user starts a new session.
Additional features include:
- Present notices within a dialog box or as a full-screen with mandatory acknowledgment requirement.
- "Always on top" option ensures messages cannot be overlooked by users.
- Send out a message immediately, or schedule it at a later date.
- Assign different levels of importance to the message (E.g. Information, System Issue, Critical, etc.)
- Track essential statistics, including which users have received and replied to messages.
- View statistics on a graphical dashboard in the Admin console, with the option to export them in a report.
- Archive messages and their related statistics for data compliance purposes.
- Works with every OVD client in all user modes (Portal, Desktop, and App mode).
Better Integration with Active Directory
OVD Enterprise 2.8.0 improves compatibility with Microsoft Active Directory Domain Forests. The improvements let OVD Enterprise authenticate users within their subdomains against a master Active Directory Forest, making deployment within multi-domain environments faster, easier, and more secure.
- Supports all forms of user login
- Fully compatible with Domain Forests
- Works with single or multi-tenant configurations
Microsoft Windows Server 2019
OVD 2.8.0 introduces support for Windows Server 2019.
UI Improvements
- Higher resolution icons for modern device screens
- Updated Linux desktop theme when presenting a shared Linux desktop

End of support for Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2
OVD 2.8.x no longer supports Windows Server 2008 R2. The change coincides with Microsoft's January 2020 end of Extended Support for the product.
